Helpful Information

EnviroFlex™ 1LB 4' x 10' MLV Soundproofing

The 4' × 10' roll is the most popular entry point for residential soundproofing projects. At 40 square feet, it covers a standard apartment wall section, a full vehicle cargo area, a single room ceiling panel, or the primary wall in a home office or recording space. It's the right size when you know what you need and want enough material to complete a meaningful install in one order.

EnviroFlex™ 1 LB MLV achieves a standalone STC rating of 26 — independently lab-tested, not estimated. At 1 lb per square foot and approximately 1/8" thick, it delivers the mass and limpness needed to block airborne noise including voices, music, TV, and traffic through walls, ceilings, floors, and vehicle panels. Added to a standard wall assembly with insulation, total STC performance reaches 41–45 or higher.

Cut with a utility knife and straightedge — no special tools or skills required. Staple, screw, or nail to studs or joists. Tape seams with EnviroFlex™ MLV Seam Tape for a continuous, airtight barrier. Drywall or finish over the top for a permanent install, or leave exposed for automotive and industrial applications.

Made from 100% post-industrial recycled vinyl at our hydro-powered manufacturing facility in Quebec. Non-toxic, odor-free, and compliant for residential, commercial, and institutional use. Purchased direct from the manufacturer — no distributor margin, no markup.

Soundproofing Performance

What STC 26 Means in a Real Wall Assembly

MLV works by adding dense, flexible mass to the wall system. The standalone STC rating matters, but the bigger result comes from how the material performs as part of a complete wall, ceiling, or enclosure assembly.

Standalone STC shows material performance

For this product, STC 26 gives shoppers a simple way to understand the material’s sound-blocking capability before installation.

Assemblies perform better than single layers

MLV is most effective when combined with drywall, insulation, sealed seams, and proper mechanical fastening.

Seams and gaps matter

Sound travels through weak points. Seal seams, edges, outlets, and penetrations to get the best result from the system.

Important: STC results depend on the full assembly, including framing, insulation, drywall layers, sealed seams, penetrations, and installation quality.
